Walter Eugene Pruitt, 48, passed away after a brave battle with cancer, at his residence in Fallon, Nevada on Thursday, October 13,2011 with his family and friends gathered around him.
Walter was born January 29, 1963 in Yuma, Arizona to Charles and Eleanor Pruitt. He graduated high school in Yuma. Walt joined the US Navy in 1981, a career that lasted 23 years. During his tours of duty, his travels took him around the world. He retired from NAS Whidbey Island as a Chief Petty Officer. Walt attended WMCC and received a degree in Networking. After graduation, Walt went to work at the VA Hospital in Reno, Nevada as an IT Tech, consultant and trouble-shooter for the Regional Operations Center. Walt had many interests, education being one of them. He was always taking classes, always looking for something new to learn , he loved the outdoors, fishing, riding quads, motorcycles, boating and playing music. He did some car restoration, played a guitar, he loved life and enjoyed all aspects of it.
Preceded in death by his parents; son, Kyle; sister, Angela. Walt is survived by his wife, Dianna; daughters, Megan and Malory all of Fallon; sisters, Elaine Eames and Annette (Jim) Coggins all of Phoenix, AZ.; and many good friends and shipmates.
A Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at The Gardens Funeral Home from 6 to 7:30 PM.
Graveside service with Military Honors to be held on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011 at Northern Nevada Veterans Cemetery in Fernley, Nevada at 1:00 PM
