James "Jimmy" Donofrio Sr. passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at his Las Vegas home with his family by his side. He was 72 years old and was a long time resident of Las Vegas. Born and raised in New York he moved to Las Vegas in 1974. He was a United States Army veteran. As President of Trident Construction Corporation, he was instrumental in building Southern Nevada during the formative years of Las Vegas from 1974 to the present. The many projects to his credit include churches, public buildings, office buildings, apartments, casinos, restaurants, industrial buildings and medical offices.  Jimmy served as a former President of the Associated General Contractors. He was a founding partner of The La Voce Newspaper and had many other businesses including property management, night clubs and beauty salons to name a few. He was active in the community as a founding member of the Augustus Society, creating scholarships for local Italian-American students and financial assistance to Italian families. He was a member of the NDA and NAIOP. Jimmy volunteered his time coaching youth sports, supported UNLV Athletics and Helping Hands. He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. Jimmy was a man of his word, a loyal friend and had the highest integrity. He is survived by his life partner of 21 years, Joan Brooks. He is also survived by his two children Jim Jr. and Ann Marie, their spouses Kelly and Mark, his siblings Donna and Daniel, their spouses John and Aurora, nephew John Daniel and his five grandchildren, Justin, Francesca, Aidan, James and Conor. A memorial service will be held in his memory on Monday November 8th at the Guardian Angel Cathedral at 10am. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in his name to the Nathan Adelson Hospice.
