Barbara C. Wolf, age 83, of Fallon, NV. passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2012.      Born Barbara Ellen Cooper on February 16,1929 to Benjamin E. Cooper and Martha I. Seibt Wilhelm Cooper in Culver City, CA., in the San Fernando Valley, she was our own "Valley Girl". In 1946 she graduated from Van Nuys High School and married Howard William Wolf on August 14,1947. They were married 64 years.
Barbara and Howard moved to Fallon in 1949, leasing the Hoover place north of town. In 1950 they purchased the ranch on Tarzan Road where they have resided for 62 years.
Barbara was a long time member of Epworth United Methodist Church where she was active in the choir and as a Sunday School leader and teacher. She was well known for her beautiful singing voice. During the 1950's and 60's she was often the requested soloist at area weddings and funerals.
In the early days on the ranch she was an important partner, driving trucks and tractors, raising her Suffolk sheep. Her knowledge of livestock led her to become an enthusiastic 4-H Sheep Club Leader and a member of the 4-H Leaders Council. She was an early member of the Churchill County Cowbelles, promoting the beef industry and active in the community events. In the early years of the Cowbelle she was voted Cowbelle of the year.
Barbara's love of singing led her family to be a founding member of the Desert Oasis Chapter of Sweet Adelines of America. She sang with the Lahontan Valley choir from its beginning days. She played the piano, organ and guitar.
At home Barbara loved to garden, watch birds, draw, paint, was an avid reader of mysteries and she baked delicious pies. She sewed beautifully, making clothing for all members of her family. For a time she worked professionally as a tailor for "Marge's" fabric shop in Fallon. There, the leather and deer hide coat she made for a customer was a major achievement.
During their early years in Fallon, Barbara and Howard were active in the Square Dancer Club and the "Rook" card playing group.
